An employee from Scribendi reached out to the iWriterly team to see if we would be interested in reviewing the company’s editorial services in exchange for a free critique. Learn what we thought of the popular Canadian editing company in this week’s iWriterly video.
Scribendi is a Canadian editing and proofreading company with more than 350 professionals on their team and 20 years of experience. The company was founded in 1997 and provides document revision services to writers in the business, academia, and publishing sectors. They have edited almost 1.5 billion words and processed more than 450,000 orders.
Scribendi uses a file encryption (256-bit SSL) for file transfers to and from their site, and only Scribendi employees have access to their site and order system.
According to the company: “We do not sell, trade, or rent personal information, and we do not sell or publish the papers we review. . . . Scribendi will never make a claim on another’s copyright, and we don’t require credit or acknowledgment for our work.”
Scribendi’s editorial services for authors include:
- Manuscript critique
- Manuscript editing
- Manuscript proofreading
- Script editing
- Query package creation
- Manuscript proofreading and query package creation
- Ebook editing

Today’s video will be broken down into two parts:
- A review of Scribendi’s first chapter critique
- A review of Scribendi’s editorial packages and pricing
Due to time constraints and our specialties at iWriterly, we will only review the following editorial packages: manuscript critique, manuscript editing, manuscript proofreading, and query package creation.
iWriterly’s Brand Update
As a result of our positive experience, iWriterly is now an affiliate of Scribendi. If you sign up for one of their editing packages using THIS LINK, we will receive a 10% commission from Scribendi. It’s at no extra charge to you.
In our February 2019 newsletter, we announced that we will be accepting fewer freelance clients in 2019. With the iWriterly brand growing so quickly and our limited availabilities, we have chosen to both increase our editorial pricing and accept fewer clients this year. If you are looking for editorial feedback and can no longer book a spot with the iWriterly team, be sure to check out Scribendi using our affiliate link.
In addition to becoming an affiliate of Scribendi, the iWriterly team is now an affiliate of Book Depository, Grammarly, and WordPress.
Book Depository is a leading international book retailer that offers more than 20 million books with free shipping all over the world and no minimum purchase. So if you’re looking to find your new favorite book and purchase it from the convenience of your home couch, definitely consider checking them out.
Grammarly is an online grammar checking, spell checking, and plagiarism detection software, checking against more than 250 grammar rules. Polish not only your manuscript with confidence using this AI-powered product, but anything you type on your computer as well, including emails, social media posts, and more.
WordPress is an online, open source website creation tool. According to company statistics, more than 33% of all sites across the web use WordPress. If you’re in need of a new website or want to update the one you currently have, definitely consider WordPress. The iWriterly website is, in fact, a WordPress website. While no resource is perfect, we have found that WordPress fits our needs, and it might fit yours as well!
AT IWRITERLY, OUR POLICY IS TO ONLY RECOMMEND PRODUCTS AND SERVICES THAT WE, OURSELVES, LOVE AND USE. THAT IS WHY WE HAVE LAUNCHED AFFILIATE ACCOUNTS WITH THESE COMPANIES.
To reiterate, as an affiliate, we receive a small commission if you sign up through any of our affiliate links. It’s at no extra charge to you. However, it does help the iWriterly team keep our resources free, such as our video content, Publishable episodes, and Query Hack critiques.
The more we grow, the more things we are juggling. As you guys may be aware, Meg left her full-time, corporate job in 2018. Now, she’s a full-time writer, video editor, website designer, and developmental book editor, and a full-time mama. That means, in order to do fun things like our new Publishable show, sometimes a gal needs a babysitter to get things done. And babysitters are mad expensive.
You may have also noticed that we have what appear to be banner ads on our website. We haven’t officially opened up our website to anyone who wants to place advertisements on our site. However, we have enabled our affiliate accounts to place banner images on our site in the sidebar and footer.
